MasterCard and Islamic finance centre join to raise level of female talent

MasterCard and the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) are collaborating to provide scholarships to two female students each year to pursue INCEIF Master’s programmes for Islamic finance.
The scholarship is to raise talent among women in Islamic finance.
Under the three-year agreement, the students, who pursue Masters in Islamic Finance Practice and Masters in Islamic Finance, would be awarded scholarships based on academic records, financial need and contribution to the community.
INCEIF and MasterCard said in a joint statement that the collaboration was timely given the increasing demand for Islamic financial products and growing importance of Islamic finance, especially in Southeast Asia.
“MasterCard will also offer the scholarship recipients a one-year contract to work with MasterCard, upon graduation,” they said in the statement.
“This will give the scholars a chance to gain invaluable industry experience, working at MasterCard’s offices in Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia, all markets in which there is a burgeoning Islamic finance landscape.
